Community content license
The short version
- You keep ownership of the recipes and photos you send.
- You let us publish, edit and adapt them on DupeEats, in our emails and on our social media and videos.
- We always credit you the way you choose: by name, by name with your social account, or anonymously.
- We never sell your content or license it for AI training, and we don’t pay for submissions.
- You can ask us to take your content down at any time.
How it works
This page applies when you send us a recipe through Submit your dupe, or a photo of a recipe you made with “I made it”. We call what you send your “submission”. It’s Community Content, as defined in our Terms of use.
- You send it. You confirm that it’s your own work, that you’re 16 or older, and that you accept the license below. We record which version of the license you accepted and when.
- We check it. Automated filters check every submission against our community rules. What passes the filters waits in our review queue until it’s checked. When in doubt, we don’t publish. Submissions that are never decided expire after 60 days.
- We publish it, or tell you why not. Approved recipes are published as a “Community dupe” and approved photos appear on the recipe, with your credit. If something needs changing, or we can’t publish it, we tell you why.
- We keep you posted, if you want. Your email is optional. If you give it, we use it only to update you about this submission (received, published, changes needed or not published) and we delete it 30 days after we decide. Without an email, we can’t contact you.
Our Privacy policy explains what data we keep about submissions and for how long.
The license
This is the full license you accept when you send a submission. It’s the same text you see on the form.
Community content license. Version 2026-10.
This license covers the recipes, photos and other content you send to DupeEats (your "submission"). "DupeEats", "we" and "us" mean the owner of the DupeEats website named in our Legal notice.
1. It's yours. You confirm that: you wrote the recipe text and took the photos yourself; the photos show food you cooked; you haven't copied any of it from someone else, from a restaurant or from the internet; anyone recognizable in your photos agreed to be shown, and no one under 18 can be identified in them; and any social account you link is yours. If any of this isn't true, we'll take your submission down.
2. You keep ownership. Your submission stays yours. You give DupeEats a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, publish and display your submission, and to edit, adapt and translate it, on dupeeats.com, in our emails and newsletter, and on DupeEats social media accounts and videos (for example TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube). "Non-exclusive" means you can still share your recipe and photos anywhere else you like.
3. The changes you agree to. To publish your submission we may: fix spelling and grammar; shorten or reorder text; convert units and quantities; format ingredients and steps in our house style; crop, resize, straighten, brighten or compress photos and remove their metadata; add captions, titles, text, music, sound or voice-over in videos and posts; and combine your submission with other content, for example in compilations, round-ups and rankings. We use automated tools, including AI tools, to help check and format submissions. We won't change what your recipe is, and we won't edit your content in a way that distorts it or harms your reputation.
4. Moral rights. Where the law gives you moral rights, such as the right to be credited and to object to distorting changes, you keep them. Section 3 is your consent to those specific kinds of changes. Where the law allows you to waive moral rights, you agree not to use them against those changes. Where it doesn't (for example, in Spain), this is only a consent to those changes, never a waiver.
5. Credit. Whenever we use your submission, we credit you the way you chose: your display name, your name and a link to your social account, or anonymously. In videos and social posts we credit you in the caption or on screen, where the platform allows it. You can change how we credit you for future use by writing to us.
6. Social platforms. When we post your submission on a social platform, we give that platform the rights its own terms require to host and show the post. That platform's terms and privacy policy then apply to the post, and some platforms use public posts to improve their own services. We don't control that.
7. What we never do. We don't sell your submission. We don't license it to anyone to train artificial intelligence models. The service providers that help us check submissions may not use it to train their models. We don't use your submission in paid ads for other companies.
8. How long it lasts, and taking it down. The license starts when you send your submission and lasts while it's on DupeEats. You can ask us to take it down at any time, using the "Your data" form or by email. We'll remove it from dupeeats.com within 30 days, usually within a few days, and we won't use it in new emails, posts or videos. Emails already sent can't be recalled, and posts and videos already published may stay up, with your credit, under this license.
9. No payment, no obligation. We don't pay for submissions, and you don't pay us. We may decide not to publish a submission, or to stop showing it, under our Terms of use.
10. Our rules. Your submission must follow our Terms of use and community rules: no calories, diets or health claims; no restaurant logos, packaging or official photos; nothing copied; no links or ads.
11. Record. We keep a record that you accepted this version of the license (the version, a fingerprint of the text, the date and your credit choice), so we can show what was agreed.
License version 2026-10
How we credit you
You choose how we credit you when you send your submission:
- Credit me by name: we show the display name you chose.
- Name + link to my social: we show your display name and a link to the social account you entered (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube or Pinterest). We build the link ourselves from your username.
- Keep me anonymous: we don’t show any name.
Use a name you’re happy to see in public; it doesn’t have to be your real name. Credited cooks get a cook page that lists their published recipes and photos. To change how we credit you, write to dupeeats@gmail.com from the email you used, with your submission reference.
Social media and videos
We may feature your recipe or photo on DupeEats social media accounts and in our videos, for example on TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube, and in our newsletter.
- We credit you in the caption or on screen, where the platform allows it, the way you chose.
- We may add titles, text, music, sound or a voice-over, and combine your submission with other content, for example in a round-up of community dupes.
- When we post on a platform, that platform’s own terms apply to the post. Some platforms use public posts to improve their own services, which we don’t control.
- If a post includes affiliate links or AI-generated elements, it’s labeled as the law and the platform require.
Taking your content down
You can ask us to take your submission down at any time, for any reason:
- use the “Your data” form on Your privacy choices and choose what to remove, then confirm by email; or
- write to dupeeats@gmail.com from the email you used, with the link or the submission reference.
We remove it from DupeEats within 30 days, and usually within 72 hours of you confirming the request. We stop using it in new emails, posts and videos. Emails already sent can’t be recalled, and posts and videos already published may stay up, with your credit.
If someone else says your submission uses their work, we may take it down as a precaution and tell you how to respond. See Copyright and takedowns.
The rules
Every submission must follow our community rules. In short: your own recipe and your own photos of food you cooked; no calories, diets or health claims; no restaurant logos, packaging or official photos; no one under 18 who can be identified; nothing copied; no links or ads.
If we can’t publish your submission, or later remove it, we tell you why when we have your email, and you can ask a person to review the decision. See Appeals and complaints.
Earlier versions
Each submission keeps the version of the license that was accepted with it, and that version keeps applying to it. When we publish a new version, the form asks you to accept it before your next submission. When we update this page, earlier versions will be listed at the bottom; for the license text you accepted, write to dupeeats@gmail.com with your submission reference.
